A group of youths will stage a play with a strong anti-crime theme at the National Arts Festival in Grahamstown in June.
Largely thanks to a unique nation-building platform, the Stop Crime Drama Festival is called Cheka Daai Ding.
Mmabatho Sakhisizwe Theatre Productions of North West, which took the ultimate festival prize, has qualified to take part in the famous national festival.
Their trip to the Easter Capen is being sponsored by the North West sports, arts and culture department.
Cheka Daai Ding revolves around a boy, Thabang, who is born into abject poverty.
Thabang's family survives because of his mother's perseverance. She sells vegetables.
Thabang forms a gang that terrorises the local community. On the outside he looks good and his family loves him dearly, but others know him better.
