Promising boxing mentor Colin Nathan, a former television presenter of the famed Simunye Grooves, is suddenly attracting fighters like bees to honey.
Nathan, who partnered celebrated boxing legend Daniel "Captain Fists" Ward in a boxing television programme called Roswika a few years back, has been joined by three young top former amateur stars.
They are Octavious "Owethu" Mbira, Boitshepo "Invincible" Mandawe and Ashley "Stimela" Dlamini.
Mbira, 21, from Rosettenville in Johannesburg, is the South African junior lightweight champion and was a bronze medallist at the All Africa Games in Algeria.
Boitshepo, 25, from Meadowlands in Soweto, holds the 2007 Baby Champs title in the welterweight division.
Dlamini, 24, from Nelspruit in Mpumalanga, is a seven-time South African junior featherweight champion, an All Africa Games bronze medallist and three-time Zone 6 champion, with 192 wins and 75 knockouts from 212 amateur fights.
Mbira and Dlamini are yet to make their professional debuts.
Some of Nathan's charges include Hekkie "Hexecutioner" Budler, Grant "Fireball" Fourie and Jarett "The Storm" Lovert.
Nathan was given the thumbs up last week Thursday by Golden Gloves Promotions' fight publicist Terry Pettifer, who announced that his bosses were excited with Nathan's sudden rise.
"We now have a plethora of young fighters," Nathan said at a restaurant in Rosettenville.
"There's gonna be a buzz in boxing."
Nathan produced his first national champion a few weeks ago when Aman Baloyi ended the reign of Irvin Buhlalu as the lightweight king.
