Ten-man Island FC defied the odds when they beat Louisvale Pirates 3-2 in an exciting Vodacom Promotional League match at Alabama Stadium in Klerksdorp yesterday.

Island were reduced to 10 men when midfielder Doctor Nkosi was sent off in the 63rd minute for a late tackle on Pirates' goalkeeper Xolani Gule.

But the dismissal of Nkosi did not demoralise Island as they upped their game and scored twice after the player was sent off to cement victory.

The goals were scored by Mduduzi Buthelezi in the 78th minute with the other one coming from the boot of Lungisani Dlamini eight minutes later.

Island opened the scoring through Johannes van Loggenberg in the seventh minute.

But Pirates replied through Sheldon Gregory in the 57th, before Eric Silo struck his side's second in the 68th minute.

Other results: Mafube 1, M-Tigers 0; Batau 2, Classic 0; Rangers 2, Bush Bucks 1.

Today's fixtures:

Batau v Soweto Panthers; Bucks v Pescod; Vasco da Gama v Rangers; Mothupi v Caraba (3pm).
