The feeling among the people of Witbank is that Mpumalanga Black Aces can cause an upset by overcoming multiple champions Mamelodi Sundowns in the final of the Nedbank Cup.
Amazayoni coach Kenny Ndlazi, players and club officials expressed the same feeling yesterday ahead of the keenly anticipated final at Johannesburg Stadium. Kickoff is at 3pm.
When Sowetan visited them at training at Atlantic Stadium in Witbank yesterday, they were all speaking about how prepared they are for the encounter.
Ndlazi said the players are in the right frame of mind going into the final that many people tip Trott Moloto's side to win.
"We have never been so close to winning a trophy and we are hungry to be crowned the inaugural champions of this competition," Ndlazi said.
"Many people wrote us off before the tournament but we managed to go all out to the final without conceding a goal and we can win again on Saturday. We are not going to treat Sundowns specially because this could make us lose focus,"
Skipper Felix Musasa said pressure was on The Brazilians to win.
"No one is scared of Sundowns and this is the right attitude going into such an important game," said the former Orlando Pirates defender.
"The support we have been receiving from the people of Mpumalanga has been awesome and we will need their backing again on Saturday. Winning this trophy will motivate us to win promotion next season."
Aces' chief executive Peter Koutroulis said it will be a wonderful if Aces beat Sundowns, the club he had served as a team manager for 15 years.
The side's co-director, George Morfu, said if they win, the players will share half of the R6 million prize money.
"They have already secured themselves half of the R2,5 million for reaching the final. They deserve these incentives for a sterling job. I'd also like to thank the local government for rallying behind us," Morfu said.
Thabo "T-Bose" Moroape, Aces' spokesman, said they had organised close to 100 buses for the supporters.
