Following the dismissal of Swede Raoul Savoy as coach of Swaziland's Isihlangu on Friday, the search for a caretaker coach is well under way.
The Football Association of Swaziland is expected to unveil a caretaker coach today for the 2010 World Cup and Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
South Africans Clive "The Dog" Barker and legend Mlungisi "Professor" Ngubane are among the top coaches the federation is targeting.
Barker, who is the head coach of Premiership side AmaZulu, and Ngubane, formerly with First Division side Nathi Lions, could not be reached for comment.
Other targets include Belgian Jan van Winckel, a former coach of Isihlangu, and Zambian Patrick Phiri, who guided Chipolopolo during the Africa Cup of Nations in Ghana.
Savoy, who earned around R35000 a month, was fired after disagreements with the federation. He was offered a R100 000 golden handshake for six months' work.
Swaziland play their opening qualifier against 2006 World Cup finalists Togo at home on June 6, followed by a clash with Zambia's Chipolopolo the following weekend.
Frederick Mngomezulu, chief executive of the federation, said the caretaker coach will be offered a two-month contract.
"We can't disclose the name of the person we are talking to until everything else has been signed and sealed. The person will be unveiled on Tuesday [today]."
Adam "Bomber" Mthethwa, a top Swazi politician who is also the president of the federation, was reportedly in South Africa yesterday to finalise the deal.
The federation is still awaiting a final verdict from Fifa on whether they will now be allowed to use the renovated Somhlolo Stadium for the official games.
l New Zambian coach Herve Renard has been offered a three-year contract to guide Chipolopolo by the Football Association of Zambia.
He takes over from Phiri.
