SuperSport United were yesterday crowned the 2007/08 Absa Premiership champions despite losing 1-2 against a determined Bloemfontein Celtic before an impressive crowd at Seisa Ramabodu Stadium.
It was the first time that Matsatsantsa a Pitori have won the championship. United needed a draw to be home and dry but they found Phunya Selesele in a mean mood on the day.
Celtic's goals were both scored by Moses Spandeel in the first half. The visitors scored through Terefa Fikru.
l Ajax Cape Town fluffed a golden opportunity to wear the crown when they played to a 2-2 draw against Golden Arrows at King Zwelithini Stadium.
Richard Henyekane and Kagiso Senamela scored for the hosts, while Bageta Dikulu and Russel Mwafulirwa netted for the visitors.
United and Ajax will represent South Africa in the African Champions League next year.
