A 32-year-old married mother of four has confessed to dumping a new-born baby because her husband suspected that he was not the father.
The incident happened in Block K in Soshanguve, Pretoria, on Friday morning.
The woman allegedly delivered the baby by herself in her bedroom on Thursday night while her husband was watching television in the lounge. The next morning she told him that she was taking the baby to the local clinic.
Her husband became suspicious when she later came back without the baby and told him that she had left the baby at the clinic.
He reported the matter to the police. When questioned, she said she had dumped the baby at the local Giant Stadium.
Inspector Lolo Mangena said the woman told police she had dumped the baby because her husband suspected that he was not the father and beat her up constantly.
"She is in custody charged with concealment of birth and murder. She will appear in court today."
