Eskom invests in new plant

Power utility Eskom said on Friday it had awarded a R2,9billion contract to a consortium of local companies to build part of its Medupi power station. Medupi will be the nation's first new power plant in a decade and will cost about R80billion to build. "Medupi is one of the key installations in Eskom's New Build Programme that is geared towards closing the current supply-demand gap," said Eskom's Brian Dames. - Reuters
