Residents of Alexandra near Sandton say it is the government's inability to deliver houses and adequate services that is triggering xenophobic attacks.

Alexandra Land and Property Owners Association chairman Gama Maga- gula said congestion and the uncontrolled movement of people in the township was the primary cause of the xenophobic attacks.

"Because of corruption among officials, houses are allocated to people other than those from Alex. The anger has been building for a long time," he said.
