Tune in to your shoppers

Creating a comfortable atmosphere for customers can contribute immensely to the survival of your business in the current turbulent economic conditions, said Craig Cesman, chief executive of DMX Music.

Creating a comfortable atmosphere for customers can contribute immensely to the survival of your business in the current turbulent economic conditions, said Craig Cesman, chief executive of DMX Music.

He said the right music could go a long way in enhancing the customer experience.

This much is borne by a UK retail study titled Store Atmospherics.

Almost 20percent of the respondents in the study said music encouraged them to spend more time in a store; this result increases to 27percent for shoppers between 21 and 39 years old.

Cesman said if you created the right atmosphere you would not only survive these turbulent times but also get a bigger share of the customer's wallet. - Sapa
