Pabi Moloi and Trevor Noah, who have landed glamorous TV roles as matchmakers, are having fun presenting a new dating show called Amazing Date on SABC1.

"I am excited about the opportunity to present this show," Noah told Sowetan yesterday. "It is the first show of its kind in South Africa. The challenge in this case is to engage with the audience right there since it is a live show.

"And on Saturday we registered about 35000 callers - good for a show that's just starting."

Amazing Date is a 13-episode series commissioned by SABC1 and produced by Urban Brew.

ThE 48-minute programme is a live-to-air, interactive dating game show in which the viewing public become contestants using their phones via new interactive technology, called "In Live".

Every week two "Amazing Dates", one male and one female, play in studio to be "won" by the audience as a date.

Viewers answer questions about the contestant and earn Amazing Points that puts them in line to win an Amazing Date and a chance to win a grand Viewers Amazing Date prize.
