Lexus presents luxury, style and class

Lexus has announced a minor upgrade to the GS range, enhancing its already comprehensive specifications and entrenching the model in its premium line-up.

The GS300 and GS300 SE benefit immediately from the predominantly visual changes, including some additions to the comfort and safety specifications of both models.

Lexus' strategy across the range has been to offer a highly specced model and a very highly specced SE grade.

Lexus SA general manager Kevin Flynn said Lexus was bringing the upgraded GS300 to the local market to continue offering Lexus drivers the value they've become accustomed to.

He said the decision to spec all models had been well received, especially in the premium segments where options lists can stretch to tens of thousands of rand.

Flynn said: "By offering highly appointed models we avoid any complication in the purchasing process by leaving nothing wanting. It's the Lexus philosophy of how we interpret modern luxury."

The GS300 features subtly revised exterior styling changes to the front and rear bumper that are visible, as are the redesigned front grille, different 17-inch alloy wheels, redesigned outer-door handles and improved side mirrors with indicator lamps.

The Lexus GS300 benefits from 10 airbags: two-stage Dual Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) front airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, front and rear side airbags and side curtain airbags.

Other safety features include ABS with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist that allows the GS300 to be steered under emergency stopping conditions.

Also standard is TRC traction control, while the Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) system automatically regulates engine power and the braking force of each wheel in the event of oversteer or understeer in a corner.

Intelligent Adaptive Front Lighting System (I-AFS), which swivels headlamps through up to 15 degrees, helps to illuminate a bend as the driver steers into it. Pricing starts from R466700.
