He claimed Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates were overrated and according to him the top team in South Africa was Sundowns followed by Ajax.
I was surprised by his claims because a top team is made of its support base and the success achieved. Chiefs is the top team because of the huge following it has in the country and because it has won more cups in the PSL than any other team.
Chiefs were once the African club of the year after winning the Mandela Cup.
No South African team has achieved that and Pirates is a top team because it has the second largest following in the country. It has also won many cups and it is the only South African team to win the African Champions Cup.
Sundowns and Ajax or any other team in the PSL don't have massive support compared with the two Soweto giants and they have not achieved what these two teams have achieved, both locally and continentally.
To reach the record set by the two teams it will take time for other South African teams. Sundowns has been huffing and puffing in Africa and reduced every season in Africa into a bunch of amateurs by minnows of African football.
That is why they cannot be compared with Chiefs and Pirates.
