Detectives from the Umzinto family violence and child protection unit have urged parents to monitor the whereabouts of their children all times.

This follows the arrest of three juveniles, aged 11, 15 and 16, who allegedly gangraped a 14-year-old girl and held her captive for a whole night.

The three allegedly smoked a mixture of dagga and mandrax before taking turns raping the girl.

Captain Vincent Pandarum said the girl left Riverside Park in Umzinto in the afternoon for a church service in Umkomaas.

"At 9pm, after the service, she was approached by three boys who told her they were on their way to a tuck shop and invited her to come along," Pandarum said.

"When she realised they were moving away from the church she became suspicious and ran back, but the suspects chased her and forced her to accompany them to a park where they smoked drugs.

"About half an hour later two of them raped her again before they all fell asleep.

"At daybreak she escaped and reported her ordeal.
