And security remains an important factor in achieving these results.
Sadly this does not seem to be the case at KwaDenge High School in Nongoma, northern Zululand, where all the teachers have resigned in protest against the lack of security after a colleague was gunned down on the premises.
Their pleas to the authorities to tighten security have allegedly fallen on deaf ears.
Their action has now left 820 pupils stranded.
The Department of Education must urgently resolve this matter and ensure that proper schooling resumes.
