That is why we are a bit concerned at the slow progress made in investigations against a government-appointed company that allegedly bribed an SABS official to approve substandard condoms that were being distributed freely to the public.

Almost a year after three suspects were arrested, charges against them were provisionally withdrawn in the Pretoria commercial crimes court this week - all because the probe had not been finalised.

However, the police have had ample time to investigate the matter and present all the evidence before court.
