Will Kaizer Chiefs bomb the ATMs in North West if they fail to get the pin code from Platinum Stars to unlock the Orlando Pirates defence in their match against the sometimes generous Bucs?

Dubbed "The Hunt for the R1 million", the much-vaunted Soweto derby will be played at Mmabatho Stadium tomorrow, starting at 3pm.

With the race for the Absa Premiership title already out of reach for the two clubs, the only consolation for them is a top eight finish.

There is an added incentive of minimum guaranteed prize money of R1 million for the clubs finishing inside the top eight bracket.

It is also the first time that the two clubs meet in the league while outside the top eight bracket, which is proof that they did not have a great season.

A solitary goal by Mabhuti Khenyeza against his former club, Golden Arrows, last Wednesday has brought some hope to Chiefs after a series of shocking results. Pirates are also aware of the possibility of missing out on the R1 million if they do not improve on their dismal recent performances.

It is not only Chiefs and Pirates, as most of the clubs in the Premiership this season have also been hit by the worst ever goal drought.

Moroka Swallows striker James Chamanga, the league's leading goal scorer, has only struck the net 14 times. Chamanga is one goal shy of the 15 goals scored by former Jomo Cosmos striker Chris Katongo in the first round of the 2006-07 season.

Fans will be hoping the Soweto giants can buck this trend in this match that divides households, friends, churches and schools.

Politicians sometimes find themselves agreeing with their rivals and players tend to have sleepless nights leading up to such clashes.

Some fans still recall the heroics of late greats like Ace Ntsoelengoe of Chiefs and Clifford Moleko of Bucs. It is therefore more than a challenge for the current crop of players to go out there and dish out one hell of a great performance to prove some of us wrong - that the derby has not lost its spark.

Tomorrow's match will definitely be decided in the middle of the park where the battle will be between Teko Modise of Pirates and David Mathebula of Chiefs. The youngsters can also look to the golden oldies like Shaun Bartlett of Chiefs and Gilbert Mushangazhike of Pirates to lead from the front.

Anybody who will dismiss the presence of the likes of Excellent Walaza and Kaizer Motaung Junior at this match would be advised to look for a tissue paper sponsorship as he or she is likely to do a makhalanjalo act after the final whistle.
