Malaika and Mafikizolo have to be careful because Zabalaza, a new Afro pop trio, is about to hit town and bring the houses down.

The new pop group to hit town and threatening to upset the lucrative but often elusive pop market are launching their new CD, Zabalaza, right in the heart of Soweto tonight.

The launch party takes place at the now famous venue, Back Room in Pimville, Soweto, at 7pm.

Zabalaza's new CD is produced by Edgar Hlakoana of Meh Records. The group is made up of Dikeledi Tlou, Betty Motlogelwa and Duncan Sithole.

Zabalaza is a passionate Afro pop gospel trio from Matlosane in Klerksdorp, North West.

They are breaking into a competitive music industry already claimed by the likes of Malaika, Mafikizolo, Ntando and Imalini.

"Gone are the days when a producer plonked a few triad chords on a piano, followed by a drum loop and you thought you could have a platinum CD sales on your lap," says Betty.

"We would like to be remembered not as an Afro Pop group from North West, but as innovative musicians who brought life into the South African sound and influenced the next generation," says Duncan.
