Political parties and individuals offered their reactions yesterday to the suspension of Snuki Zikalala and Dali Mpofu.

ANC parliament spokesman Kgotso Khumalo said the two senior suspensions were testimony to the fact that the SABC could not operate properly.

"This indicates that all is not well at the SABC," he said.

Azapo national spokesman Dan Habedi said: "We suspect the problems are related to the internal squabbles in the ANC."

He said they strongly believed the problems were caused by the ANC's Polokwane conference in December.

Cosatu's Patrick Craven said: "The board must resign before any more damage is done."

UDM president Bantu Holomisa said: "It's a case of the chickens coming home to roost. Many people have been critical of the SABC acting like state-controlled media instead of being an unbiased public broadcaster..."
