South Africa is building and Pretoria Portland Cement (PPC) is reaping a share of the profit with half-year revenue up 13percent to R2,9billion. PPC's six month interim results to March said sales had been driven by increased spending by government on infrastructure and affordable housing projects. Operating profit rose 9percent to R1077million from R987million last year. The company said March sales were dented by heavy rains and the Easter holidays, but strong regional infrastructure sales had compensated in part for slowing home building. - Xolile Bhengu
