As the third race on the five-event calendar after Port Elizabeth and Cape Town and ahead of Pretoria and Johannesburg, it is clearly regarded as the biggest of them all in so far as the Grand Prix is concerned.
This event was launched with great success last year with a R50000 bait for the winner of the series - last year Rene Kalmer walked off with the big prize but will be out of contention this year as she is forced to miss key events because of other commitments - and the Durban challenge boasted its biggest entry in its 18-year history.
