Limpopo public transport and roads MEC Justice Pitso, pictured, has described various roads in the Greater Letaba as major accident hot spots.

Pitso said this after a gruesome accident on the R81 road between Mooketsi and Giyani last weekend, which claimed three lives.

Twenty-seven people were seriously injured when a minibus taxi collided with a stationary bus. One person was killed on the spot.

The other two people died after they were admitted to hospital.

On Monday Pitso visited some of the casualties at Kgapane Hospital near Modjadjiskloof where 17 of the 27 injured people had been admitted.

The other 10 casualties were admitted to Letaba Hospital outside Tzaneen because of a lack of bed space at Kgapane Hospital.

The victims were from Motupa and Jamela villages and were on their way to Gauteng.
