Jabu Mahlangu, MEC for sports and recreation in Mpumalanga, said they wanted to ensure that their communities also benefited from the 2010 World Cup spin-offs.
"It's a development project of the Germans and the Mpumalanga provincial government," Kubheka said yesterday.
"We as Safa are coming on board as the custodians of football in South Africa. Everything that has to do with the training of coaches must be approved by us.
"I travel to Mpumalanga every Thursday where we conduct coaching courses for teachers and other community members.
"The focus is on schools because we all know that South Africa used to produce great players because of the good structures we used to have for our pupils.
"There used to be regular league and stake games at various school grounds on Wednesdays, which attracted many talent scouts.
"Through this project, we have decided to go back to the classes and begin with the programme of reviving soccer, especially for the rural areas.
"We spend three weeks dealing with one community, doing the level one coaching course. It covers the basics of soccer coaching.
"The plan is to cover all the major towns of Mpumalanga in line with the regional boundaries of the province," said Kubheka.
