Though Saturday's rainy weather was expected to cast a spell on fashion and music's biggest night of the year - the 14th Samas at Sun City - a huge yellow carpet full of Golihood glamour brightened up the night.

The event was boycotted by many celebs but those who turned up showed they were determined to make a great night of it.

Bonang Matheba, who wore a ballerina-inspired Diamond Face Couture dress by Gert Coetzee reigned truly supreme on the yellow carpet. The same designer scored another hit with Uyanda Mbuli's mermaid-inspired blue dress which set off her beautiful body to lovely effect.

KB accepted her award in a beautiful blue dress she had bought from Honey Boutique in Fourways.

Zama Ngcobo did not disappoint either. She looked effortlessly beautiful in her dress. And, keeping it simple, Lira accepted her award in a beautiful dress also made by Coetzee.

On the list of men who looked splendid Jub Jub took the crown. Though he did not win the tightly contested song of the year award, his black jacket made him look like a member of the Mafia.

Right behind him was Tbo Touch. Touch, who is always in casual gear, showed his gentlemanly side with a black-and-black ensemble. Trevor Noah and the handsome Andile Ncube kept it simple in their beautiful suits.

MTV's Sizwe Dhlomo and DJ Sbu looked elegant, TK Nciza and Siyabonga Ngwekazi also stood out.

There were also some rather fashion-challenged celebs on the yellow carpet. Strange patterns and unflattering colours kept on sweeping through.

Kanyisile Mbau and her new friend Chomee took the fashion disaster crown. They rocked up in oh-so scary and weird outfits.

They looked like Michael Jackson's reject video girls and their bitchy attitudes did not make things better for them either.

Other fashion losers included Tumisho Masha, who looked like a member of Amadodana Asewesile in his blazer and unmatching trousers.

Menzi Ngubane's wife Palesa wore a self-designed dress made of yards of fabric that looked as if it came from a batch of second-hand clothes, ridiculous for the a wife of a man who had just won a ton of money.

What would be the worstdressed list be without Ntsiki Mazwai, who was dressed in a Jamakazi Tinkerbell-inspired dress with a crown on her head. She looked like a pre-school girl about to perform in a badly organised concert.

Thuli Zungu usually looks gorgeous but her Sokhona dress didn't suit her figure. It looked as if it would fall at any moment.

It was so big that she could have smuggled a sibling into the event if she wanted to.
