Avril Phali, Jomo Cosmos first-choice goalkeeper, is concerned about the failure to score goals but is optimistic that Ezenkosi will not be relegated.

Lying second from the bottom of the log, Cosmos are left with three games against Mamelodi Sundowns, Thanda Royal Zulu and Black Leopards.

Royal and Lidoda Duvha are in the same boat as Cosmos, who seemed to have an unusual phobia of scoring goals this season.

They have scored the less number of goals (13) in the Absa Premiership, one more than Moroka Swallows striker James Chamanga, the current top goalscorer.

"Jomo Cosmos are going nowhere, we are in the Premiership to stay," said Phali, who has had a great season despite the club's poor showing.

At one stage Phali went 10 games without conceding.

"We have to acknowledge that this was one of our worst seasons. Generally the team has been playing well but the problem is lack of goals," continued Phali.

"We are left with three games, we just need to win all of them to stay clear from relegation. It's good that we have to play against both Royal and Leopards.

"I still maintain that we won't even have to take part in the (Platinum) playoffs after winning all the remaining games.

"It goes without saying that it won't be easy in all those three games, but we are all focused. We are all aware that some of us will be without jobs if the club is relegated."

Jomo Sono, Cosmos' owner-coach, is also adamant that Ezenkosi will still be campaigning in the Premiership next season.
