A tough call

It is not uncommon nowadays to hear parents griping about having their hands full raising their children .

As any parent will attest this is a tough call, made more difficult by the myriad temptations of a permissive society.

Clearly it is not a viable option for parents to sit back and despair, since that would be tantamount to shirking their responsibility.

That said, Sowetan yesterday published a report of a Soweto mother's plea to her community to help put her son, an apparent habitual criminal, behind bars.

Her call should resonate in homes where parents suffer silently under the tyranny of their bully children.

Woe betides the future if this situation is allowed go on unchecked.
