Two black youngsters - Godwin Ngesimane and Owethu Tiyabilika - will be among top golfers when they tee off in the Nedbank South Africa's Disabled Golf Open (NSADGO) at Erinvale Golf Estate from today to Wednesday.
The competition, which has become popular in the country, will be played over three rounds.
Ngesimane and Tiyabilika are the youngest challengers in this tournament but Tiyabilika will be taking part for the third time.
He first took part in Graceland, Secunda as part of a swing programme in 2006. Last year he took part but failed to make the top 20 berth. Ngesimane, who took up golf just 12 months ago and plays off a 27 handicap, has improved tremendously.
The youngster was introduced to golf through the SA Disabled Golf Association first swing programme last year, but he is looking forward to the game.
"I really enjoyed playing nine holes at Erinvale," said Ngesimane. "I also went to the sea but didn't swim because it was raining."
