Nuku Marha Khadammbi's death has left a void in the church where her Christianity shone like a beacon.
An ardent member of Christian Ministry Olofobog, an acronym for One Love, One faith, One Baptism and One God, Khabammbi served with such reverence that she was known in Christian circles, as The Great Intercessor whose powerful, prayers united the church.
She died on Saturday at home in Mohlakeng, Randfontein, after a short illness.
Born in 1951 in Evaton in the Vaal she moved to Randfontein after marrying Peter, with whom she had three children.
Khadammbi started working for Sales House, later joining Jet Stores, in Randfontein in 1976 and transferring to Mogale City in 2000.
A likeable person, she was always ready to help. Her care for the sick, the homeless and the destitute and her outreach ministry touched many people in her community.
"Her selfless efforts were outstanding. The church has been dealt a severe blow, but only God's infallible Word can soothe the trauma the family is going through," said Olofobog head pastor, Sello Mathebula.
Khadammbi will be buried at Greenhills Cemetery on Saturday. The service starts at Itireleng Centre, Mohlakeng at 7am.
