Gauteng is gearing itself up for the 14th anniversary of South Africa's democracy at the Union Buildings in Pretoria.

The commemoration on Monday will be held under the theme "Business Unusual: All hands on deck to speed up change".

Organised by the Gauteng government in partnership with the City of Tshwane, the event is planned for 9am.

A series of activities have been lined up for a fun-filled day starting with a 5km fun run, followed by exhibitions, cultural performances, a keynote address by Premier Mbhazima Shilowa and entertainment by top artists including award-winning singer Ntando, pictured, and Judith Sephuma.

"As we celebrate our freedom we recall the heroism, sacrifices and solidarity that assured South Africans of the possibility to build a just and united country," said sport, arts, culture and recreation MEC Barbara Creecy.
