The trial date for three men accused of killing reggae star Lucky Dube has been set for November 3 in the Johannesburg high court.

Sifiso Mhlanga, Ludwe Gxowa and Mbuti Mabe are facing charges of murder, robbery, attempted robbery, unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition.

The trio appeared in the Johannesburg magistrate's court yesterday. Their case was transferred to the high court for trial.

About 46 witnesses will testify against the three men.

Among the state witnesses are two people the three men allegedly hijacked before and after the Dube killing.

The reggae star was killed outside his brother's house in Rosettenville, south of Johannesburg, in October last year in what police believe was a botched hijacking.
