Pastor Daniel Thamsanqa Mogase dedicated his life to serving God and improving the lives of his community.
He was born to Isaac and Anna Mogase in Doornkop on the West Rand on February 25 1963.
In 1988 Mogase went on a scholarship to the United States, where he obtained a Master's in Divinity and Economics.
Mogase was instrumental in establishing the Cathedral of Praise Church in Pennsylvania in the US.
His choice of studies was influenced by his belief that Christianity should enrich its followers spiritually and uplift communities from poverty.
Mogase returned to South Africa in 1998. He founded the Resurrection Community Church in Kagiso, with motto a "A church used by Christ to make people live again" encapsulating his beliefs. With its strong focus on reconciling families, strengthening relationships and community outreach programmes, the church served its community spiritually and socially.
This it did through its scholarship fund that paid for transport and school fees, set up programmes on love, courtship and marriage for the youth and parenting effectiveness training.
Mogase also served on the West Rand's Moral Regeneration Programme, the community policing forum and the ministers fraternity.
He died on April 22. He is survived by his wife Sibongile, three children, parents and siblings.
Mogase's funeral service will be held at Kagisanong Hall in Lewisham tomorrow at 8am.
The cortege leaves for Kagiso Cemetery at 10am.
