Bongani "Cyclones" Mwelase has tipped Lucky "Babawazo" Lewele to win the vacant WBC International welterweight belt against Selcuk Aydin in Turkey tomorrow night.
"Selcuk is not a classic fighter. He is a brawler who tries hard to end his fights early," said Mwelase, who defeated Lewele in a gruelling fight at Wembley Arena last November.
That slug fest was deservedly voted Fight of 2007 and the two gladiators were awarded beautiful trophies
Mwelase added the Lifetime Achievement Award for upstaging a vastly experienced campaigner of 28 fights when he (Mwelase) had only eight bouts under his belt.
That is how Lewele's rule as the SA and WBC International champion ended.
"Selcuk does not like to get hit and when that happens he loses focus and fights with his heart. He also cannot take a good punch and that is Lucky's strongest point," said Mwelase, a gold medallist at the Australia 2006 Commonwealth Games.
"But I must add that it will depend on Lucky's recovery from the punishment he absorbed in our fight."
Mwelase vacated the WBC International belt two months ago after a disagreement with promoter Branco Milenkovic.
Lewele, from Burgersfort in Limpopo, and his trainer and manager Nick Durandt, jetted off to Turkey on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Themba Tshicila must fight like a man possessed on Sunday, to win the SA featherweight belt from Ludumo Galada at the Orient Theatre in East London and avoid heading for the scrapheap.
This will be Tshicila's fourth attempt - probably the last - to win the national belt.
Defeat for this thirty-something fighter will relegate him to being a stepping stone for up-and-coming youngsters.
Tshicila has 21 wins and six losses, all by knockout.
On the other hand Galada, a former Olympian, is still to convince pundits that he is a force to be reckoned with.
The observation after his previous two title defences against Thando Vukuza and Edward Mpofu is that Galada is an average fighter with below-par boxing ability and a lack of firepower.
But he is still undefeated after 10 fights with only three knock- outs. Galada's fight with Tshicila, his homeboy in Mdantsane, and five more other bouts, will be promoted by Mzimase Mnguni's Eyethu Boxing Promotions.
The six-bout programme will be televised live on SuperSport from 2pm.
