Killers refuse to give up on title

Though their chances of dethroning Mahwelereng Spikes in the LimDev Super League look remote, Seleteng Giant Killers refuse to throw in the towel.

They believe they can still steal the title form under the noses of Spikes, though this seems to be a softball mission impossible.

Spikes have done enough to keep their league title in the cabinet and it appears that the only team that could stop them from achieving this feat is Spikes themselves.

Koloi "Mhlekazi" Kekana's side is likely to land the crown with a few matches to spare.

But Killers are encouraged by the fact that they have played six matches less than The Snakes.

For Killers to succeed, they will have to win all their remaining 10 matches and hope that Spikes falter in their remaining four, which is highly unlikely.

Interestingly, the two blood rivals are still to meet each other in the last matches of the season on June 1.

While Spikes will be inactive this weekend, Killers will be trading bats with the tricky Lebowakgomo Wildbeasts on Sunday.

Jimmy Ngobeni, Killers' spokesman, said they had prepared adequately to win all their remaining matches.

Killers go into Sunday's clash on a high based on the fact that they walloped Wildbeasts 10-0 in the first round, to go with another two victories against Wildbeasts last season.

Killers' pillar of strength will be Simunye players such as Vasna "VR6" Molaba, Zane Mphahlele and Tshepo Mokoena.

Wildbeasts will bank on the experience of Derrick Mahapa and Raymond "Beer" Matlala to pull through.

Fixtures: Mashite Eagles v Seshego Cannons (10.30am), Sebayeng Sharks v Moletlane Texas (10.30am), Seshego Raiders v Mamaolo Rebels (10.30am), Mamaolo Rebels v Sharks (1pm), Wildbeasts v Cannons (1pm), Texas v Cannons (3.30 pm), Wildbeasts v Killers (3.30pm).
