Speaking of someone who will brook no nonsense, folks are wont to say he or she takes no bribe.

Speaking of someone who will brook no nonsense, folks are wont to say he or she takes no bribe.

They might as well be speaking of Constable Ntwanano Maringa.

The young Limpopo officer is a real policeman.

He is true to his calling of serving and protecting the public with dignity and honour.

We all know policemen are not paid in buckets. Like many of us they struggle to make ends meet.

So they are often exposed to the temptation to look the other way in return for something that jingles in the pocket.

Not so Maringa. This week alone he nailed two men who offered him bribes, earning him kudus from his bosses.

Honesty - not crime - does pay after all.
