Mama Angel met another angel. He is Tony Ferreira of Wimpy's in Southgate, Johannesburg south.
Ferreira donated four boxes of toys to the Emthonjeni Awareness Centre in Evaton in the Vaal. The centre takes care of 500 children who have been infected with or affected by HIV-Aids.
Ferreira said: "We had four extra cases of toys when headquarters changed to new toys.
"We decided to donate them to needy children. We donate something to the children and to other charities every year. We have to give back to the community that supports us. You can't just take and take.
"All of us should do more for the kids. I challenge every Wimpy in Gauteng to do the same."
Emthonjeni provides counselling for children and prepares them and their relatives for the impending death of a loved one. Psychologists visit the children.
It also provides post-bereavement counseling, draws up wills and sorts out IDs, birth certificates, maintenance and grants.
The children drop in every day for breakfast and a food parcel for supper.
The centre's Sizwe Morajane thanked Ferreira. He said the toys had come at the right time.
"We could not close or take a break during the festive season," Morajane said. "Working mothers and guardians brought their children to the centre in the mornings.
"Soon other people were doing the same so we had no choice but to start a daycare centre.
"Mama Angel gave us toys in the past but it was unfortunately not enough for all the children.
"We are very grateful because the numbers just keep soaring."
