A mineworker is expected to appear in the Roodepoort magistrate's court tomorrow on charges of illegal possession explosives and mine property, Gauteng police said yesterday.

Police spokesman Superintendent Lungelo Dlamini said the 49-year-old man was arrested yesterday at Slovoville in Roodepoort.

Police recovered 12 capped fuses and 13 blasting cartridges, said Dlamini.

Hes said the arrest followed observation of the man's home. Police suspect that he stole the explosives - the same type used to bomb ATMs - during night shifts.
