Comedian Desmond Dube's much-talked-about Million Man March on the Union Buildings in Pretoria will take place on June 10.

Dube, pictured, announced the anti-crime march and related activities to the media yesterday at Thaba Ya Batswana Eco Lodge, south of Johannesburg.

Criselda Kananda, who is coordinating the day's programme with Dube, said: "There will be a lot of activities aimed at ensuring that on the day we have enough people to say 'Enough is Enough' to crime."

Dube said part of the campaign would involve placing adverts on television and radio in all 11 official languages "so that South Africans from all walks of life can be brought in".

He said that "if it means giving away a million free tickets to ensure that the million man target is reached, this will be done".

"Whether they come to the march or not, at least more than a million will have known about it," he said.

The march will be monitored by the South African National Defence Force and police. Dube said the Tshwane metro police were "1001 percent" behind the march.

"I don't think they will have trouble raising the funds needed for the project or getting enough people to attend," said Henk Louw, owner of Thaba Ya Batswana.

Kananda said they hoped the march would help South Africans reclaim their ubuntu, neighbourhoods and streets.
