Popular and controversial TV presenter Andile Ncube's sudden departure from Live has been met with both excitement and despair.

While many local musicians are troubled by Ncube's departure from the show, many say they will not shed a single drop of their tears.

This week's Live will be Ncube's last after three years. He first started out as an unknown newcomer when the show was called One.

This week, Live will feature a segment dedicated to Ncube where local musos will bid him farewell via feature insets, live performances and in-studio guests - all of which will be wishing him well for the future.

However, his departure is being welcomed by others for different reasons.

Kwaito singer Sbongiseni Nxumalo, aka Masheleni, who has had fall-outs with Ncube "because he was obnoxious and not playing my music", says he and other musicians have organised a big party to celebrate his departure.

The party will be held in Fourways on Friday.

ProKelly boss Prosper Mkwaiwa said he was also in a celebratory mood. "Andile was using the show for his own personal gain. He promoted his friends. Some featured on the show more than once, while Kelly and others only got one chance to be on Live. "

Koyo of gay outfit 3Sum also said he was happy Ncube was leaving. "Good riddance. He was becoming bigger than the show. He must give others a chance. Maybe people like us who have been trying for ages to be featured on Live will finally be on the show."

Kwaito artist and producer Robbie Malinga, however, said he was very saddened by Ncube's departure.

The new Live presenter will be revealed on May 2.
