Former Moroka Swallows midfielder Sydney "Metro" Hadebe has been appointed coach of the Mbombela Municipality Under-23 soccer team as they prepare for the 2010 Inter-municipal games.

The technical staff will include Mandla Mathaba and Tiger Thompson.

Last year, Mbombela performed dismally at the yearly event that was started in 2004.

They hope roping in experienced coaches will change their fortunes.

Runny Mthethwa, Mbombela social department assistant director, said: "We hope bringing in experienced coaches will assist us in our endeavor to dominate the games this year. We have also requested other federations to give us neutral experts who will guide our squads," he said.

This year's games will be held in Matola province in Mozambique from May 23 to 25 with other sporting codes being added.

The games involve four municipalities - Mbombela and Nkomazi in Nelspruit; Matola in Mozambique; and Mbabane in Swaziland. Swaziland and Mozambique are serving on the Mpumalanga 2010 World Cup technical committee.
