Providing quality healthcare

The Clinix Health Group, which was founded in 1992 by Dr Peter "Kop" Matseke, is a leading private healthcare provider.

The group has survived and thrived and provides first-class quality healthcare to previously disadvantaged communities at six hospitals in Gauteng. They are the 104-bed Botshelong - Empilweni in Vosloorus, Tshepo-Themba, a 120-bed hospital in Dobsonville, Soweto, Naledi-Nkanyezi in Sebokeng, with 160 beds, and the 642-bed Clinix Selby Park Hospital.

It also manages the 170-bed Lesedi Private Hospital in Diepkloof, Soweto, and together with its joint venture partners Itokolle Services, and the Itokolle Clinix Private Hospital, a 93-bed hospital in Mafikeng. It also provides emergency services and occupational health services.

Its slogan is "Patients First" and the group makes substantial investments in building, equipment and staff.

The group, which is "of, for and by the community", has created many opportunities.

Matseke says: "This business was based on the realisation that charity begins at home. In addition, 95percent of our nursing, cleaning and administration staff are community members."

Also, 90percent of its employees are female. Most of its management too are women.
