Free State Stars and AmaZulu advanced to semifinals of the Nedbank Cup yesterday to join Mamelodi Sundowns and Mpumalanga Black Aces who went through on Saturday.
The draw for the semifinals will be conducted in Johannesburg today.
Usuthu beat Leopards 3-2 at Thohoyandou Stadium and Stars were too luminous for Major David Bright's Santos when they pipped them 1-0 at Goble Park Stadium yesterday.
AmaZulu's underrated forward Mpho Maleka was the hero of the day when he scored a hat-trick against Lidoda Duvha, writes Matome Lebea.
Leopards had the upper hand over Usuthu in the opening minutes of the game and it was not surprising when they scored first through Christopher Netshidzivhe in the 18th minute.
Netshidzivhe scored a beauty just outside the danger box after he was set-up by the talented Myron Shongwe to beat AmaZulu goalie Kalilolo Kakonje.
Shongwe, once again, was the provider for the second goal when he laid on a telling square pass to Mulondo Sikhwivhilu from the right flank in the 31st minute.
Sikhwivhilu rounded off Kakonje and scored an easy goal in front of two befuddled Usuthu defenders to send their supporters into joyous celebrations..
After the two goals, Leopards started to somewhat lose concentration at the back and allowed Maleka to grab a brace before the break.
Maleka scored with a diving header in the 36th minute from close range and struck again five minutes later.
Maleka, who insisted to Sowetan before the match that AmaZulu will qualify for the semis of Ke Yona, crowned his virtuoso performance with a hat-trick in the 79th minute.
The match had to be stopped for 20 minutes after the lights went off at the stadium.
Meanwhile, Jimmy Kauleza's 21st minute goal was enough to fire Stars into the semisin Bethlehem, Thabo Johnson reports.
.Santos almost equalised when Musa Otieno shot straight into Kennedy Mweene's in the 31st minute.
