I don't rule out their chances of reaching the final of the competition. Please do not write them off as pretenders to the R6 million winners' prize.
They have a great coach in Kenny Ndlazi and players to achieve this feat.
But the Capetonians should be commended for putting up a brave fight against the powerful Brazilians and not to allow Mamelodi Sundowns to beat them with an avalanche of goals as was the prediction of the Pretoria side's supporters.
I was happy with the support at the Aces-Lions match and this proved that the teams in the NFD are pulling out all the stops to build their support base.
Another thing that excites me about the officials of the NFD clubs is that they are not afraid of the status of the Premiership teams and they treat them like any other teams in their division. This is the right attitude.
I love this division with a passion and I pray everyday that the Premier Soccer League (PSL) succeeds in securing a sponsorship for the NFD.
It should not just be another sponsorship, but a sponsor that is worth its salt.
If the PSL succeed in renewing their union with former sponsor Toyko Sexwale's Mvelaphanda Holdings, I will be happy.
But I will be unhappy with the league sticking to one sponsor. They should go all-out to get as many sponsorships as possible.
To the sponsors of Ke Yona, I say don't despair because Aces will continue to double their efforts to lure as many supporters as possible to their semifinal match.
The successes of the NFD teams in the tournament once again proved that the standard of football in this division has improved tremendously.
