Team effort contributed to defending champions Blue Bulls' biggest victory of the season following their 47-17 win over the Highlanders in a Super 14 match at Loftus on Saturday.

This was the view of coach Frans Ludeke after his charges bounced back in style after their disappointing 22-50 defeat to the Hurricanes at the same ground two weeks ago.

An excited Ludeke said: "It was a great feeling to taste victory once more after suffering five successive Down Under defeats and one in Pretoria. I am quite excited that everybody showed commitment and dedication on the day."

Glen Moore, Highlanders coach, said the Bulls were on song and they used their opportunities effectively.

The Bulls showed aggression from the first minute of the first period as they literally raided the Highlanders' 22m area for most of the encounter.

Morne Steyn and Zane Kirchner gave the home side a 8-0 lead in the third minute with a penalty and try respectively. The Bulls led 21-3 at the break.

The Bulls moved from the bottom of the log to 11th spot with 15 points from 10 games..

l The Brumbies brought the Sharks' unbeaten run to a halt when they beat them 28-27.

Other results: Waratahs 26, Lions 3; Stormers 20, Hurricanes 12; Reds 29, Western Force 12; Chiefs 18, Crusaders 5.
