Memorial for storm victims

Top Mpumalanga government officials from various departments and other stakeholders will today honour the two victims who died in last week's storm in Bushbuckridge.

A heavy storm ravaged parts of the area, leaving two people dead, scores injured and several houses destroyed.

A memorial service for the two victims was to be held today.

Fredy Ngobe, spokesman for the provincial department of local government and housing, said a joint funeral service for the two wouldl be held on Sunday.

The destitute victims of the storm have been assisted with about 100 tents, tons of food parcels and 100 blankets.

Premier Thabang Makwetla and MEC Candith Mashego-Dlamini had visited the affected areas to get first-hand information on damages.
