Veteran AmaZulu midfielder John "Shoes" Moshoeu has likened his team to a sleeping giant and warned that those standing in its way will soon feel its wrath.

Speaking ahead of their crucial Nedbank Cup quarterfinal clash with Black Leopards, Mosheou said Usuthu has come of age and were ready to lift their first trophy after a lengthy drought.

"It's not going to be easy, but I can tell you that the guys are ready. AmaZulu have been through thick and thin and I believe the time has come for us to bring a trophy home," Moshoeu said.

Moshoeu, who is likely to be roped in the technical staff of Usuthu next season, said nothing would stand in their way against the struggling Limpopo outfit.

His words were echoed by team captain Belux Kasonga, who said they were now looking beyond Leopards.

"We will finish them off in their backyard. There's no way that Leopards can stop us. Actually, we are looking beyond them and looking forward to playing in the finals and winning it.

"We want to meet Mamelodi Sundowns in the final because that is the only team that can provide us with real competition," said Kasongo.

AmaZulu coach Clive Barker yesterday took the team through a light training session on the beach to freshen up after Sunday's dismal performance against Platinum Stars.

"They looked a bit flat and I decided to bring them to the beach. We mean business when we say we want this cup and a Top 8 position. We have prepared well and have the plan," said Barker.
