The municipalities of Cape Town and Tshwane have announced 2010 Fifa World Cup poster design competitions.

The municipalities of Cape Town and Tshwane have announced 2010 Fifa World Cup poster design competitions.

The agreement between Fifa and the Local Organising Committee allows all the nine host cities to come up with their own posters to promote and position themselves.

Various cities set up their own adjudication panels who will select the winning poster and refer it to Fifa to announce the winner in September. The designer of the winning poster will get h R20 000, second and third taking home R10 000 and R5 000, respectively.

The purpose of the host city poster design competition is to involve community members in promotional activities of the World Cup, Tshwane officials said.

It is also aimed at raining awareness.

Closing date is April 28.
