Klaaste bursary for Legodi

Lesetja Legodi has been awarded the Aggrey Klaaste Scholarship for this year.

Lesetja Legodi has been awarded the Aggrey Klaaste Scholarship for this year.

This means he can pursue a postgraduate diploma in journalism and media studies at Rhodes University in Western Cape.

The scholarship is jointly sponsored by Sowetan and the Rhodes School of Journalism and Media Studies. It amounts to R30000 and an opportunity for Legodi to do a four-week internship in the Sowetan newsroom.

Polokwane-born Legodi, who completed a BA with majors in English and geography at the Limpopo University, has also completed a certificate in project management, public relations and a higher diploma in education.

He taught at the Central Johannesburg College last year.

"Receiving this scholarship was a life changing experience and a golden opportunity for me because the cost of studying is so high," Legodi said.

He also said that he had always wanted to study journalism.

Legodi also received a Media, Advertising, Print, Packaging and Publishing Sector Education and Training Authority (Mappp-Seta) bursary for R25900.

Mappp-Seta is an organisation that supports education and training in the media and yearly contributes funds for scholarships to Rhodes University students.
