The newly elected top-five leader- ship of the ANC Youth League will not be changed.
This was said yesterday by ANC general secretary Gwede Mantashe in reaction to the aborted ANCYL congress in Bloemfontein over a week ago.
Mantashe said the ANC national working committee had received both a verbal and written report on the developments and outcome of the congress from party observers headed by Malusi Gigaba, a past president of the youth league.
Mantashe said the status of the congress was final and the ANC would assist the league to "finish the unfinished business" of the congress.
A two-day meeting will be organised to elect the remaining 30 members of the league's NEC and to adopt resolutions.
"The top-five still stands, the five are elected leaders. The election of the top-five is the work done. We will assist the ANC Youth League to finish the rest," said Mantashe.
He said the behaviour of the league's delegates at the congress was "unacceptable and against the ANC culture".
The congress was characterised by fist fights and booing of leaders such as ANC president Jacob Zuma and the league's outgoing president Fikile Mbalula.
