The Sowetan Big Walk is likely to be bigger than anticipated.

The event takes place on May 1 and will start at the Mapetla Sports Centre. The date is ideal as it will be a holiday - Workers' Day.

Orlando Pirates players will be among the walkers.

The Sowetan Big Walk, conceived by Madimo Promotions, is part of Sowetan's Aggrey Klaaste Nation Building Foundation. How to get there - from the North:

l Take the M1 South, follow the N1 Bloemfontein-R28 Vereeniging road signs;

l Follow the N1 Bloemfontein-N12 Kimberley- R68 Soweto signs;

l Take the M68- Old Potchefstroom Road- Southgate off-ramp;

l At the T-Junction, turn right into Old Potchefstroom Road;

l Pass the Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital on your left;

l Pass over the railway bridge, Klipspruit Valley Road;

l Proceed straight - pass Regina Mundi Roman Catholic Church on your right, en route to Moroka police station;

l At Moroka police station, turn right into Koma Road;

l Turn further left into Manotshe Street, proceed and pass a set of traffic lights, and at the third short street, turn right into Letsie Street, which will lead you straight to the Mapetla Sports Centre.

From the south - Follow the M1 North signs and take Columbine Road, which becomes Old Potchefstroom Road, then follow the directions as stated above.
