A missing student nurse's former boyfriend is being questioned by the police over her mysterious disappearance.
It is now almost a week since Mabuyi Buthelezi disappeared and police investigations have drawn a blank.
Sowetan learnt yesterday that Buthelezi's former boyfriend was being questioned by police because he was the last person she had spoken to the day she disappeared.
Buthelezi parted with her friend when she boarded a taxi from Elandskop to Edendale.
Police investigations have also established that Buthelezi called the former boyfriend from a public phone to ask for a phone number of a traditional healer.
Police now believe that she might have been abducted. Police spokesman Joey Jeevan confirmed yesterday that several people were being questioned by the police.
"Our investigations suggest that Buthelezi might have been abducted and at the moment we are questioning a number of people that might be linked to her alleged abduction," said Jeevan.
Buthelezi is a student nurse at Edendale and Northdale hospitals in Pietermaritzburg.
Her distraught brother Nkosingiphile said the family was convinced his sister had been abducted.
They were very worried about her disappearance.
People with information about Buthelezi's whereabouts are asked to contact Inspector Siphiwe Gwala on 033-845-2762.
Meanwhile, mystery still surrounds the discovery of the bodies of two teenage girls at a cemetery in Imbali township in Pietermaritzburg.
The bodies, which were discovered on Saturday, are yet to be identified.
Police spokesman Jeevan yesterday appealed to people with information that could help identify the bodies to come forward.
The bodies were spotted by a herdsman who was passing through Azalea Cemetery.
He alerted the cemetery's caretakers, who then called the police.
Jeevan said police who went to the scene believe the dead girls were aged between 16 and 17 years.
"The teenagers had been shot and stabbed several times in their heads and bodies," said Jeevan.
Jeevan said one of the girls was of medium build, dark in complexion, with short hair.
She was dressed in a blue pair of jeans, a yellow T-shirt and a grey jacket.
The other victim was slender, with a fair complexion. Her hair was braided in a snoopy style.
She was dressed in blue jeans and a red and white long-sleeved jersey.
